A

3D Avatars

Customizable digital characters that represent your player in Upland. You can outfit them with Legit branded apparel, NFT accessories, and cosmetic items. They appear on your profile, in social interactions, and throughout certain gameplay features. Think of them as your in-game identity.

Alcatraz

Upland’s in-game prison system. If a player violates the terms of service, is caught using multiple accounts, or engages in prohibited activity, their account can be “sent to Alcatraz” — effectively a ban. Assets may be frozen or permanently seized.

B

Blockchain Gaming

A category of games that record asset ownership on a blockchain, giving players verifiable proof they own in-game items. Upland runs on a “dedicated Appchain” (their current official language). Properties and certain assets are minted as NFTs with on-chain records. Worth noting: Upland’s own site states “Digital ownership refers to in-game assets.”

Block Explorer

A tool that lets you view transactions recorded on Upland’s blockchain. You can look up property ownership history, transaction details, and mint numbers. Useful for verifying ownership and checking the provenance of assets before purchasing.

Block Explorer Trail

A gamified exploration feature built around the Block Explorer. Players visit specific locations mapped to blockchain data, earning rewards for completing trails. Combines sightseeing with education about how the blockchain layer works.

Blueprint

A permanent building right for a specific structure type. Buy once, build unlimited times. Standard blueprints are available in the in-game store. Limited-edition blueprints come from events, special sales, and seasonal drops. You need the correct blueprint before you can build any structure on your property. Blueprint holders can also earn Sparklet by accepting contracts in the Construction Hub.

C

Challenges

In-game tasks and objectives that reward players for completing specific activities. Challenges range from simple property visits to complex multi-step objectives. They feed into the Gamified Earnings system and often rotate on a seasonal basis.

Championship Racing

Upland’s competitive racing format. 260 MPS speed cap, qualifying window from Thursday through Monday, and the top 24 qualify for an elimination bracket. Registration costs 30,000 UPX. This is consistently one of Upland’s best features because it rewards driving skill over spending. After the entry fee, it’s about ability, track knowledge, and strategic MPS choices.

City Evolution

Expansion drops that add new properties and neighborhoods to existing cities. City Evolutions bring fresh inventory to already-open cities, creating new collection opportunities and changing neighborhood dynamics. They happen regularly across multiple cities.

Collections

Sets of properties grouped by a shared theme — same neighborhood, city, or special category. Completing a collection earns a yield boost on those properties. Some collections require just a few properties; others span entire neighborhoods. Strategic collection-building is one of the core skills in the property game.

Collector Score

A competitive scoring system that ranks players based on their collections of Block Explorers (30%), Passes (20%), and Badges (50%). Launched December 2024 as “open beta” — the leaderboard is still hosted outside the Upland platform 16 months later, with no published timeline for in-game integration. Awards real UPX prizes each season (200,000 UPX for first place as of Blossom 2026). Resets every season (~6 weeks). Burned items are excluded from your score.

Community Dev Tools

A set of APIs and developer resources that Upland makes available to community builders. Third-party developers use these tools to create dashboards, analytics platforms, and utilities. Community sites like uplytics.org are built using these resources.

Construction Hub

A player-to-player building marketplace. Property owners post contracts for structures they want built. Players who own the required blueprint accept the contract and build it, earning Sparklet as payment. There’s a 5% cancellation fee if either party backs out. One of Upland’s best features — it creates a real player-driven economy where blueprint holders provide genuine value.

Crypto Exchanges

Platforms where you can buy and sell Sparklet outside the game. Sparklet trades on Uniswap (Ethereum) and Aerodrome (Base). These are decentralized exchanges — you connect a crypto wallet and swap directly. Buying Sparklet on exchanges is typically cheaper than the in-app store.

Crypto Wallet

A digital wallet that holds cryptocurrency and blockchain tokens. To buy Sparklet on external exchanges or bridge it into Upland, you need a compatible wallet (like MetaMask). Upland also has an in-game wallet for managing your UPX and Sparklet balances.

D

Dev Shop

The in-game store where Upland sells new structures, vehicles, Legits, cosmetics, and other items directly to players. Prices are set by Upland — this is where limited-edition drops and seasonal items appear first.

Discovery Range

The radius around your avatar within which you can interact with game elements — minting properties, starting treasure hunts, visiting locations. If something is outside your Discovery Range, you need to travel or use a Send to get closer.

Dual Category Structure

A service structure that contributes to two service categories at the same time. Only two exist: High School (306 total SU across two categories) and Supermarket Super Store (106 total SU across two categories). Exceptionally efficient for boosting neighborhood scores.

Dynamic Pricing

Upland’s system for setting costs on Sparklet-based actions like merging Uppies and generating seeds. Prices adjust in real time based on supply and demand. No fixed rate schedule has been published. This means merge costs can spike unpredictably — a player might pay 200 Sparklet for a merge one day and 1,300 the next.

E

Existing Mints

Properties that have already been purchased (minted) by a player at least once. An existing mint has ownership history on the blockchain. Compare with Unminted Property, which has never been purchased.

F

Fiat Money

Government-issued currency — USD, EUR, GBP, etc. In Upland, “fiat” refers to real money you spend on UPX packages or receive when selling assets through the NFT-to-USD program. UPX is not fiat — it’s an in-game currency that costs fiat to acquire.

Floor Price

The lowest listing price for properties in a specific neighborhood, city, or category. Floor price is the baseline for evaluating whether a deal is worth taking. Community tools track floor prices across the map. If you’re flipping, you need to know the floor before you set your listing.

FSA (Fair Start Act)

A program that gives new players access to free or heavily discounted properties to help them build their initial portfolio. FSA properties tend to be smaller (low UP2), which limits what structures you can build on them.

Critical: You permanently lose FSA access once you reach Pro status (100,000 UPX net worth). This cannot be reversed. Plan your early purchases carefully — once you cross 100K, free properties are gone forever.

FSA Cutoff

The net worth threshold at which players permanently lose access to FSA properties: 100,000 UPX (Pro status). Once your in-game net worth hits this number, you cannot claim FSA properties ever again. There is no way to regain access. Factor this into your early-game strategy.

G

Gamified Earnings

Upland’s mission-based yield system. Complete seasonal missions to lock in your property earnings rate for the next season. The tiers: base rate 4.9% (no missions), 5.88% (1 mission), 14.7% (5 missions), and 15.2% (all missions). Before this system existed, players earned roughly 17% passive yield just for owning properties — no missions required.

Genesis Week

The opening period when a new city first launches in Upland. During Genesis Week, properties in the new city are available at their initial mint price. High demand and limited supply make it a competitive rush for prime locations and collection opportunities.

H

Holding Period

The mandatory wait time after acquiring a property before you can list it for USD sale. Varies by status level: Uplander 30 days, Pro 14 days, Director 7 days, Executive and above 3 days. Applies to every property acquisition — including player-to-player purchases. Not a factor for UPX-only listings.

Hybrid Structure

A Modular Apartment that provides both Living Units (for housing Uppies) and Service Units (for Resident Score). 19 hybrid structures exist across regional variants. They’re the best option for small FSA-sized properties because they deliver SU on footprints as small as 10-14 UP2 while also giving you Living Units.

I

Influence Score

Measures your personal contribution to a neighborhood’s infrastructure. Factors include the service structures you’ve built, vehicles you’ve deployed, and your overall development activity. Influence Score feeds into the neighborhood Resident Score. Higher influence gives you more visibility in neighborhood rankings.

IPU (Iconic Parody Uppie)

The rarest Uppie tier. Created by merging two Level 10 Uppies. Getting there requires 1,024 Level 1 Uppies merged progressively through every level. The Sparklet cost is substantial and subject to dynamic pricing — expect to spend significantly more during high-demand periods.

K

Kiosk

The smallest service structure type. Each Kiosk provides 1 SU and fits on properties as small as 9 UP2. There are 14 food-themed variants (Taco Stand, Lemonade Stand, etc.). Kiosks are the cheapest entry point for adding Service Units to a neighborhood.

KYC (Know Your Customer)

Identity verification required before selling assets for real USD. The process is handled by Thunes Financial Services and involves submitting government-issued ID and personal information. Required for all players using the NFT-to-USD program, regardless of status level.

L

Landmarks

Special properties tied to real-world points of interest — stadiums, monuments, famous buildings. Landmarks are premium assets that can’t be minted normally. They carry significant status value and often anchor important collections.

Legits

NFT-based branded goods and wearables in Upland — officially licensed items from real-world brands. Players buy, collect, trade, and equip them on their 3D Avatars. Legits come in two tiers: Essentials and Replicas.

Legit Essentials

The standard tier of Legit branded goods. More affordable and widely available than Replicas. Essentials cover basic apparel and accessories for your 3D Avatar. Good entry point for players starting their Legit collection.

Legit Replicas

The premium tier of Legit branded goods. Higher quality, lower supply, more expensive. Replicas tend to hold secondary market value better than Essentials due to scarcity. They’re the collector-grade items in the Legit ecosystem.

Life

Upland’s plant care gameplay system. Players grow plants on their properties using STEM, maintaining health (feeding) and wellbeing (petting). Healthy plants attract Uppies and boost your Resident Score. Plants are permanently tied to the property they’re placed on — they cannot be traded or moved. Phase 1 launched in late 2025, with Phase 2 expanding features in 2026.

M

Marketplace Fee

A 10% fee (called “community contribution”) applied to all secondary market transactions. Split evenly: 5% from the buyer, 5% from the seller. This also applies to direct UPX transfers between players (with a 60-day cooldown on acquired UPX before it becomes transferable). Factor this fee into every deal — it significantly impacts flip margins.

Mementos

Collectible digital items earned by participating in events, visiting specific locations, or completing activities. Mementos serve as proof you were part of a moment in Upland’s history. Some carry rarity value on the secondary market.

Metaventure

A player-owned business inside Upland. Types include Shops, Factories, Showrooms, and Nurseries. Shop owners can recruit Sub-Merchants who list items for sale, with the owner earning a 2-10% commission on each sale. Items in Metaventures can be priced in UPX or USD (capped at $10,000 per item). Running a Metaventure is one of the few ways to build a recurring revenue stream in the game.

Mint / Mint Number

The act of purchasing a property for the first time (minting) and the sequential number assigned to that purchase (mint number). Lower mint numbers indicate earlier purchases. Mint #1 means you were the very first buyer. Mint numbers are permanently recorded on the blockchain and can carry collector value.

Minting

The process of buying an unminted property directly from Upland for the first time. When you mint a property, it becomes yours on the blockchain with a new mint number. Minting costs UPX and is different from buying a property on the secondary market from another player.

Modular Apartments

Hybrid residential/service structures available in regional variants: Mainstreet, European, East Coast, and South American. They provide 2-3 Living Units plus 1-2 Service Units on compact footprints (around 10-14 UP2). Best option for small properties where dedicated service structures won’t fit. A Mainstreet Modular on a 14 UP2 property gives you 3 Living Units and 2 SU — making it the smartest first build for many FSA properties.

MV Motors

Upland’s in-game vehicle dealership and brand. MV Motors produces the cars and vehicles players use for racing and traveling the map. Vehicles can provide speed boosts, service boosts, and aesthetic customization.

N

NFT (Non-Fungible Token)

A unique digital asset recorded on a blockchain. In Upland, properties, Legits, vehicles, and certain other items are NFTs — each has a unique on-chain record proving ownership. Upland’s NFTs live on their dedicated Appchain. Keep in mind: Upland’s own disclaimer states “Digital ownership refers to in-game assets.”

NFT-to-USD Program

Upland’s system for selling in-game assets for real US dollars. Powered by Thunes Financial Services. Available to all players at Uplander status (10K UPX) or above — not limited to high-tier players. KYC verification is required. Holding periods apply based on your status level. You sell assets for USD, not UPX itself.

Node

A neighborhood or group of neighborhoods that compete together in Resident Score rankings. Nodes are the organizing units for infrastructure competition — your Service Units, structures, and contributions feed into your node’s overall score. Node rankings can determine event eligibility and community prestige.

Nursery

A Metaventure type where players buy and sell seed Legits. Totem-enabled Nurseries allow Sparklet spend for randomly generated seeds, which are used in the Life plant system. Nurseries connect the Totem/STEM economy with the broader marketplace.

O

Outdoor Decor

Cosmetic items that can be placed on your properties for visual customization. Outdoor Decor includes lawn ornaments, seasonal decorations, and themed items. They don’t affect gameplay stats like SU or yield — they’re purely aesthetic.

P

Protem

The temporary predecessor to STEM. Earned through nurturing Totems. Converts to STEM at a 1:1 ratio. Protem served as the bridge between the original Totem system and the full Life/STEM economy. As STEM rolls out fully, Protem is being phased out.

R

Racing

Upland’s vehicle-based competitive mode. Players race their cars on various tracks, competing for UPX prizes. Races range from casual street races to the high-stakes Championship Racing format. Vehicle stats, driving skill, and track knowledge all matter.

Resident Score

A composite metric measuring how developed and attractive a neighborhood is. Combines Service Score (from service structures), Influence Score (from individual player contributions), and infrastructure factors. Rankings exist and are visible in-game. As of April 2026, no tangible rewards have been attached to high Resident Scores — despite players investing significant resources into building neighborhoods.

Riot Mode

A special treasure hunt event mode where all properties on the map become eligible for treasure spawns, not just unowned ones. During Riot Mode, the competition for treasures intensifies as players race across the entire city. Higher risk, higher reward potential.

S

Season Pass

A $6.99 per-season purchase that includes a Wildcard Token, cosmetic drops, and a Collector Score boost. Must be burned (activated) to use its contents. The Wildcard Token covers one missed Gamified Earnings mission. Seasons rotate regularly, and each pass is specific to that season.

Sends

Teleporting directly to any property you own within the same city. Sends are now unlimited within a city — you can teleport as many times as you want at no cost. This was a significant improvement over the old limited-send system. Cross-city travel still requires either traveling by vehicle or paying for a flight.

Service Units (SU)

The measure of how much a service structure contributes to its neighborhood’s Resident Score. SU values range from 0.25 (Bus Stop) to 468 (Track & Field Complex). SU is not the same as construction cost — that’s measured in SPH. Structures at the same price point can have wildly different SU values. For example, at $9.99: Dry Cleaner delivers 3 SU while the Track & Field delivers 468 SU. No pricing framework has been disclosed.

Sparklet

Upland’s utility token, used for construction, merging Uppies, and other gameplay actions. Unlike UPX, Sparklet exists on real blockchains — both Ethereum and Base. You can buy it on Uniswap (Ethereum) or Aerodrome (Base) and bridge it into the game, or buy directly from Upland’s store. Official Ethereum contract: 0x0bc37BEA9068a86C221B8bd71eA6228260DAD5A2. Official Base contract: 0x9cd44eca3d1e0ada6fbdaf5793031c3a500089b1 (LayerZero OFT, verified on BaseScan). Always verify the contract address before purchasing externally.

Sparklet Warz

A competitive faction-based event. Three factions — Krypto Knights, Purge Pirates, and Cypher Cyborgs — compete to dominate cities through strategic building and asset deployment. Winners receive Sparklet airdrops. One of Upland’s more engaging competitive formats.

SPH (Spark Hours)

The unit measuring construction cost. SPH tells you how many Spark Hours of staked Sparklet a structure takes to build. Higher SPH means more Sparklet locked during construction and longer build times. SPH is different from SU — SPH is what you spend, SU is what the neighborhood gets.

Spotlight Mementos

Special edition Mementos highlighted during events or promotions. Spotlight Mementos are typically time-limited and carry additional prestige or rarity. They appear in your collection alongside regular Mementos but stand out in-game.

STEM

The Life system currency. Used for feeding and maintaining plants on properties. Non-tradeable — it stays in your account and cannot be sold or transferred. $1 buys 1,000 STEM from the store. STEM is “ever-inflationary” by design, meaning supply constantly increases. Protem converts to STEM at a 1:1 ratio.

Structure Ornaments

Decorative additions for your built structures. Ornaments customize the look of buildings on your properties without affecting their functional stats. Similar to Outdoor Decor but attached to specific structures rather than the property lot.

Sub-Merchant

A player who lists items for sale inside another player’s Metaventure shop. The shop owner sets commission rates between 2-10% on sub-merchant sales. This creates a landlord/tenant dynamic — shop owners earn passive commission, sub-merchants get access to foot traffic they couldn’t generate alone.

Swaps

Direct property-for-property trades between players. Swaps bypass the marketplace and let two players exchange assets directly. Both parties must agree to the terms. Useful for collection-building when you have a property someone else needs and vice versa.

T

Terminals

In-game hubs that serve as fast-travel departure points for cross-city flights. Traveling from a Terminal is typically faster and cheaper than traveling by car across long distances. Each open city has Terminals that connect to the broader network.

Thunes (formerly Tilia Pay)

The financial services provider that processes real-USD transactions in Upland. Thunes handles KYC verification, USD payouts from asset sales, and the bridge between in-game value and real money. If you want to sell anything for actual dollars, you go through Thunes.

Totems

Unique 1-of-1 map assets with 5 traits that generate Protem when nurtured by players. Totem-enabled properties can become Nurseries. Each Totem is distinct and permanently placed on a specific property. They connect the Life/STEM ecosystem with the Metaventure system.

Total Mints

The total number of times a property has been purchased from the initial unminted state (minted). Properties in popular areas may have high total mint counts, reflecting demand. Total mints affect the mint price — generally, properties cost more to mint in later rounds.

Treasure Hunts

A gameplay mode where players search for hidden UPX rewards scattered across the map. Treasure hunts require traveling to or near the spawn locations before other players claim them. Different treasure tiers offer different reward ranges. It’s one of the primary active-play earning methods.

Treasure Tier

The classification of treasures by reward value. Higher tiers offer larger UPX payouts but are rarer and more competitive. Your Upland Status level determines which treasure tiers you can access — higher status unlocks better treasure opportunities.

Treasure Rush

A limited-time event that dramatically increases treasure spawn rates across one or more cities. During a Treasure Rush, the map fills with more treasures than normal, creating an accelerated hunting window. High activity and competition — bring your best vehicles and know your city layout.

U

UFRST26

Generation 2 Uppies. Can result from merging UORIGIN (Generation 1) Uppies due to Upland’s random cross-generation merge mechanics. Some players have been surprised to see Gen 2 results from merging two Gen 1 Uppies — the outcome is not guaranteed to preserve generation.

Unminted Property

A property that has never been purchased by any player. It sits on the map available for minting at its set UPX price. Unminted properties are “virgin” assets — first buyer gets mint #1. During city openings and FSA, unminted properties are the primary targets.

UP2

The unit measuring property size in Upland. 1 UP2 equals 9 square meters. Every structure requires a minimum UP2 footprint to build. Many FSA (free) properties are too small for larger service structures, making UP2 a critical factor when evaluating any property purchase. Check the UP2 before you buy — a cheap property that can’t support meaningful structures has limited long-term value.

Upland Status

Your tier in Upland, determined by your net worth in UPX. Each level unlocks features and reduces holding periods for USD sales:

Visitor (0 UPX) → Uplander (10,000) → Pro (100,000) → Director (1,000,000) → Executive (10,000,000) → Chief Executive (100,000,000) → Vice Chair (500,000,000) → Chair (1,000,000,000)

Key thresholds: Uplander unlocks USD selling. Pro permanently removes FSA access. Director and above get reduced holding periods.

Upland Voting

A system that lets players vote on certain game decisions and community proposals. Voting power can be influenced by your status level and in-game holdings. Upland has used voting for city selection and feature prioritization, though the frequency and scope of votes varies.

Uppies

Digital residents that live on your properties. Uppies come in generations (UORIGIN, UFRST26, etc.) and levels (1 through 10, plus IPU). Merge two same-level Uppies to create one next-level Uppie: 512 Level 1s reach Level 10, and 1,024 Level 1s reach IPU. Merge costs use dynamic pricing — no fixed rates, costs fluctuate based on supply and demand. Cross-generation merging produces random generation results.

UORIGIN

The first-ever batch of Generation 1 Uppies. Historically significant and never produced again, making them the most collectible Uppie generation. Be aware that merging UORIGINs can produce UFRST26 (Gen 2) results due to cross-generation randomness.

UPX

Upland’s primary in-game currency. UPX costs real money — packages range from $4.99 to $999.99, at roughly $1 per 1,000 UPX. New players receive a small starter amount. UPX cannot be converted back to USD. You can sell assets (properties, NFTs) for USD through the NFT-to-USD program, but the UPX currency itself is a one-way purchase. Every UPX you spend is money that doesn’t come back as cash.

UPX Earnings

The UPX yield you earn from owning properties. Earning rates are set by the Gamified Earnings system: base 4.9%, up to 15.2% with all missions completed. UPX Earnings accumulate automatically based on your property portfolio value and your active earning rate. The old system provided roughly 17% passive yield with no mission requirements.

UPX Transfer

Sending UPX directly to another player. Requires identity verification, two-factor authentication, and a Captcha. A 10% fee applies (5% sender, 5% receiver). Minimum transfer is 20 UPX. Acquired UPX has a 60-day cooldown before it becomes transferable again. This prevents rapid UPX cycling between accounts.

V

Vanilla Mode

A stripped-down version of the Upland experience with limited features. Vanilla Mode restricts access to certain gameplay elements, markets, and city features. It’s what Visitors and very new players experience before fully leveling up their accounts.

Visa

Required for all new players at Visitor status. Must be renewed every 7 days. If you fail to renew within the window, you permanently lose ALL of your in-game assets. This is not reversible. Reaching Uplander status (10,000 UPX net worth) removes the Visa requirement entirely. Until then, set a reminder — the 7-day clock is real.

W

Wildcard Token

Included with the $6.99 Season Pass. Covers exactly one missed Gamified Earnings mission. Important: it does not count toward the 5-mission earnings threshold — it simply prevents you from losing progress on a single missed mission. One-time use per season.

X

XStacks

A separate casual 3D block puzzle game published by Upland in 2025. Free to play with a premium option. XStacks is its own standalone experience — it does not directly affect your Upland property game, though Upland has explored cross-promotion between the two.
