    What This Page Is

Championship Racing is one of the best features in Upland — community-run, skill-based, with real rewards. This guide covers how to enter, how qualifying works, the points system, and strategic tips.

    Why Racing Matters

Championship Racing is consistently one of the brightest spots in Upland. It's one of 16 positive findings in our audit, and for good reason:

    • Community-run by Racing Commissioners Masschef and Antman89
    • Skill-based — your performance determines your ranking, not your wallet
    • Track creators get paid — 25,000 UPX for each community-designed track selected
    • Team Racing — squads of 4 compete together
    • Weekly live streams with commentary and results
    Real Talk

This is what Upland looks like when they build for gameplay instead of monetization. The community responds with enthusiasm, engagement, and genuine competition. Racing proves the player base is there — they just need real features to show up for.

    How to Enter

    1. Purchase a Championship Racing Pass from the Upland Store — 30,000 UPX
    2. Hold the pass at the snapshot time (announced each season)
    3. You're registered for the full 5-week season + Week 6 Championship Finals

All registration UPX goes directly into the season's prize pool. Upland adds bonus contributions on top.

Team Racing: Teams of 4. Team leader buys one additional Racing Pass (5 total for the team). Submit team info to Commissioner Masschef in the Upland Racing Discord.

    Season Format

Each season spans 5 weeks of competition + Week 6 Championship Finals.

    Weekly Cycle

    • Thursday 9 AM PT: New community-designed track opens for qualifying
    • Thursday–Monday: Qualifying window. Race as many times as you want, only fastest time counts
    • Monday 9 AM PT: Qualifying closes. Top 24 advance
    • Friday (race week): Live semi-finals and finals streamed by Racing Commissioners

    Elimination Bracket

    • 24 qualify based on fastest qualifying times
    • 6 slowest eliminated → Top 18 advance to semi-finals
    • 3 semi-final heats of 6 racers each (seeded by qualifying time):
      • Heat 1: Positions 1, 6, 7, 12, 13, 18
      • Heat 2: Positions 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17
      • Heat 3: Positions 3, 4, 9, 10, 15, 16
    • Top 2 from each heat advance to the Final (6 racers)

    Final Rankings (all 24 racers)

    • Positions 1–6: Based on Final Heat results
    • Positions 7–18: Based on semi-final race times
    • Positions 19–24: Based on qualifying times

Season Championship winners earn points on the annual Championship Series Leaderboard, which determines who qualifies for the Genesis Week Grand Final — the ultimate race.

    MPS (Max Performance Score)

All Championship races use a 260 MPS cap. This is your vehicle's total performance score including power-ups.

The strategic choice: Do you run a high-performance car that uses most of your 260 MPS, or pick a lower-MPS vehicle and save room for power-ups? Both approaches can win — it depends on the track.

Power-ups are available in the store (Thursdays) and on the secondary market. They add to your MPS, so plan your loadout based on the weekly track's characteristics.
