    Earning UPX

    Property Yields

Your primary passive income. Every property earns annual yield based on its mint price. Base rate is 4.9%, up to 15.2% with full mission completion. Collected every 3 hours.

Pro tip: Properties in completed collections earn boosted yields through collection multipliers. This stacks with your Gamified Earnings multiplier.

    Property Trading

Buy low, sell high. The secondary market is where experienced players make most of their UPX. Collection properties and properties in active neighborhoods command premiums. All secondary market transactions carry a 10% community contribution fee (5% buyer, 5% seller) — so any flip needs to clear at least a 10% margin to profit.

The reality: Property flipping is the most-cited earning method, but it’s harder than it sounds in practice. Between the 10% fee and constant fresh supply from new city openings and Evolution drops, resale demand can be limited. Successful flippers focus on collection properties (which have natural demand from completers), undervalued properties in active neighborhoods, and quick FSA flips where mint price is below floor value.

You can also make offers on unlisted properties — submit a UPX offer on any owned property, even if the owner hasn’t listed it for sale. Your UPX goes into escrow until they accept, reject, or you retract. This is a powerful tool for targeting specific collection properties or prime locations.

Tip: Community tools like upxland.me let you check floor prices and market data across cities — essential for evaluating flip opportunities before you commit UPX.

    Treasure Hunting

Send your Block Explorer to properties within a city to find treasures. Costs sends (UPX) but can yield significant returns. Not recommended for new players with small portfolios — the learning curve is steep and you can lose money.

    Championship Racing

Register for 30,000 UPX. Prize pool funded by all registrations plus Upland bonuses. Top racers earn significant UPX. See our Racing Guide.

    Construction Hub Contracts

Build structures for other players and earn a builder’s fee. Requires owning the relevant blueprint and traveling to the property. See our Blueprint System guide.

    Terminal Ownership

Airport terminal owners share in travel fee revenue. Terminals cost $1,536 at city openings. Returns depend on travel volume to that city.

    Track Creator Rewards

Design a racing track that gets selected for Championship Racing — earn 25,000 UPX. Additional UPX from players racing on your track.

    Earning USD

Selling Assets for USD (NFT-to-USD Program)

All Uplanders (10,000 UPX net worth) are automatically enrolled in the NFT-to-USD program, powered by Thunes Financial Services. You can list properties and most other digital assets for sale in USD. KYC identity verification is required.

The difference between status levels is the holding period — how long after acquiring a property before you can list it for USD:

    StatusHold Period
    Uplander30 days
    Pro14 days
    Director7 days
    Executive+3 days

Max $10,000 per transaction. Max 20 properties listed at a time. UPX itself cannot be sold for USD — only assets.

    Metaventure Sales & Sub-Merchant Income

If you own a Metaventure (in-game shop), you can sell items for USD to other players. You can also earn passive income through sub-merchants — let other players list items in your shop and earn 2-10% commission on every sale they make through your store. Six shop types exist: Block Explorer, NFLPA Fan, Football Fan, Car Showroom, Map Asset Showroom, and Ornament Showroom.

    Asset Swaps

Players can swap assets 1-for-1 directly with other players — trade an Ornament for a Block Explorer, a Legit for an Ornament, and so on. Navigate to any player’s profile to browse their assets and submit swap offers.

    UPX Transfer Mechanics

Transferring UPX between players carries a 10% fee (5% paid by sender, 5% by receiver) and acquired UPX has a 60-day cooldown before it’s transferable. Example: sending 1,000 UPX costs the sender 1,050 UPX, and the receiver gets 950 UPX. Minimum transfer: 20 UPX.

    Real Talk

Earning real USD in Upland is possible but requires upfront investment and patience. The holding period means you can’t flip properties for instant USD — Uplanders wait 30 days. Don’t enter the game expecting quick returns. Most players treat UPX earnings as in-game value, not as income.

    Earning Sparklet / STEM

    Sparklet

Earned through gameplay, purchasable in-store or on exchanges. Used for construction and various game mechanics. Tradeable — has real market value.

    STEM

Converted from Protem at 1:1000 ratio. Available in the store at $1 = 1,000 STEM. NOT tradeable — pure fuel for the Life system. Used to feed and maintain plants on properties.

    Totem Cycles

Participate in Totem Cycles to earn Protem/STEM through staking map assets. Community member Phoenixfini reported approximately $25,000 worth of STEM from ~$500 in map asset investment across 4 cycles — one of the better ROI stories in the game.

    What Earns the Most?

For most players, the earning hierarchy looks like:

    1. Property trading — Highest ceiling, requires market knowledge
    2. Collection yields — Passive, compounds over time
    3. Base property yields — Passive, requires mission completion to maximize
    4. Construction contracts — Active income for blueprint holders
    5. Racing — Skill-based, competitive prize pools
    6. Treasure hunting — High variance, can lose money
