Original Article: Marina Sale: Miami & Bermuda — Upland Official Medium

Quick Take

Upland is selling Marina bundles for Miami and Bermuda at $30 each — framed as a UPX purchase with a “complimentary Marina” on top. The marinas feed into fishing and Troves, neither of which is live. Up to $12,000 in gross revenue for infrastructure tied to features “on the horizon.”

The pricing framing is worth reading carefully. Upland says: “You are purchasing UPX at its standard value, with the Marina property included as an added bonus.” At $30 for 30,000 UPX, that's the standard UPX rate ($1 per 1,000). The marina is positioned as free. This insulates the sale from criticism about marina pricing — but it also means the marina's value depends entirely on fishing and Troves, which don't exist yet.

Real Talk

Marinas are where boats dock and fishing begins. Boats were sold in February 2026 as “explicitly non-functional” at $50–$150 (documented in our audit Part 4, Contradiction #18). Now marinas are being sold for the same system. The fishing mechanics that give both assets their purpose are “in active development.” Players who own boats AND marinas have spent $80–$180+ on a waterfront economy that doesn't function yet.

Real Talk

The article says “where you dock today determines what you catch tomorrow.” That's a direct appeal to FOMO — buy now or miss your position. But there's no fishing mechanic, no Trove system, and no documentation of how marina location affects catch rates. Players are making location-based investment decisions based on a system that has no published rules.

How This Compares

This continues the boats/fishing pre-sell cycle documented in the Upland Accountability Report. Boats sold February 2026 (Contradiction #18: “Boats sold as explicitly non-functional at $50–$150”). Marinas extend the same waterfront economy. For the full boat and fishing timeline, see our Boats & Fishing Guide.
