Real Talk
This is a $175 vehicle whose primary selling point — transporting cargo across Trade Routes — does not exist. The article's own framing: “Players who invest in this vehicle class now will have a head start when the roads open later this year.” That's Upland explicitly positioning a non-functional vehicle as an investment in a future feature. This is the pattern documented in our audit Part 4, repeating with a new vehicle class.
Two days. That's the gap between the Trade Routes developer update (March 17) and this sale announcement (March 19). Announce the vision, sell the preparation. 194 trucks at $175 is up to $33,950 in gross revenue for an asset that currently does nothing its marketing describes.
The “free Trailer” for Semi owners is positioned as a bonus, but Trailers are a “brand-new asset class” that doesn't exist yet either. The bonus for buying a non-functional vehicle is a promise of a second non-functional asset. Both require Trade Routes, which are “coming later in 2026” with no specific date.
How This Compares
The Upland Accountability Report documents this sale explicitly in its Part 4 timeline: “2026 Semi Trucks began selling March 19, 2026 as 'the backbone of Trade Routes.' Status as of April 2026: Still within the stated delivery window. No specific date published. Semi Trucks are being sold in advance of the feature, matching the vehicle pattern documented in Part 4.”
This follows the same sequence as buses ($50–$75, Sep 2025, boosts activated Feb 2026), emergency vans ($115, Oct 2025, boosts activated Feb 2026), and boats ($50–$150, Feb 2026, fishing not yet fully integrated). For the full vehicle timeline, see our Vehicle Complete Guide.
