What Are Ornament Challenges?
Each season includes a decoration challenge where players place ornaments on their structures to earn leaderboard points. Points are scored based on placement strategy, ornament rarity, and structure quality.
Frost 2026 Scoring (Most Recent)
Diminishing Returns ("Spread to Score")
Stacking ornaments on one property no longer works. Each additional ornament on the same property is worth less:

Key: The LAST ornament you place on a property is treated as the "1st" for scoring. Place your best ornament last.

Bonuses and Penalties
- Upland Official Ornament: 2x multiplier (applied after all other scoring)
- Creator self-placement: 10% penalty (placing your own created ornaments)
- Creator Collaboration Bonus: Full points for placing ornaments made by others
The Frost 5 Challenge (Special Format)
One property. One structure. Five map assets. Nothing else. Judged purely on creativity — no multipliers, no SU scoring, no supply bonuses. Entry requires posting on X with screenshots and hashtag #Frost5Challenge.
The Frost 5 Challenge was one of the fairest competitions Upland has ever run. By limiting everyone to 5 assets, it eliminated the spending advantage and rewarded pure creativity. We listed it as Positive Finding #11 in our audit. More challenges should work this way.
Strategy
Spread ornaments across many properties. Diminishing returns means 10 properties with 1 ornament each scores far more than 1 property with 10 ornaments.
Place your best ornament last. The final ornament placed gets 100% value.
Use others' ornaments. Self-created ornaments get a 10% penalty. Buy or trade ornaments made by other players for full scoring.
Target high-tier collection properties. Ultra Rare collection properties give 5 bonus points per ornament placed there.
Build larger structures. Service Structures and Apartment Buildings give 5 points vs 1 for Micro Houses.
