The framing here deserves a clean read: each Terraformer comes with 1,000,000 UPX, and at Upland’s standard rate of $1 per 1,000 UPX, that 1M UPX retails for ~$1,000 on its own. Buyers are paying $1,000 for $1,000 worth of UPX and receiving a 5-of-5 Block Explorer as the “bonus.” Whether that’s a good deal depends entirely on how much the Terraformer itself is worth — and that valuation rests on Block Explorer utility that’s only partially shipped.

Upland states Terraformers commemorate “major feature releases and milestones,” and there’s a precedent worth surfacing. The Mayors Terraformer dropped June 27, 2025 to celebrate the first-ever Mayor Trials — framed as a temporary test that would lead to a permanent governance system. As of April 2026, no permanent Mayor System has launched; it’s tracked as mayor-system: pending in our audit’s pending utility ledger. The Life Terraformers commemorate a launch whose tangible reward layer (Troves) carries the same “launching later in 2026” status that boats and fishing carried on April 9.

The April 21 dev update quietly disclosed that Director Block Explorers are “not the highest rarity tier” — language that points at Terraformers as the actual top-tier collector asset. Pair that with the Stamina launch (live April 22) and modifiers that are “upcoming,” and the bullish case for $1,000 Terraformers right now sits on three different timelines: rarity confirmed, Stamina shipped, modifiers pending. The full case — rare BE + active Stamina + modifier-driven utility — is partially built. Pricing as if all three are live is a stretch.

Credit where it’s due on the Collector Score angle: Upland is consistent about adding new collectible Block Explorers to the seasonal scoring system, and Terraformers do contribute. The structural caveat is the same one we’ve documented for 16 months — the Collector Score itself is still in open beta, hosted outside the Upland platform, awarding real UPX prizes through a leaderboard that isn’t in-game. Buying a Terraformer for Collector Score points is buying into a system that delivers prizes but hasn’t been integrated into the game it’s scoring.
