MPS Strategy: The Core Decision
Every Championship Race has a 260 MPS cap (Max Performance Score). Your vehicle’s base performance plus any power-ups must stay under 260.
This creates the fundamental strategic choice:
High-performance car approach: Use a car with high base MPS, leaving little room for power-ups. You rely on raw vehicle speed. Best for tracks with long straights and few obstacles.
Low-MPS car + power-ups approach: Use a lower-base car and stack power-ups for strategic advantages. Best for technical tracks where boosts at key moments outweigh raw speed.
Neither approach is universally better — it depends on the track each week.
Power-Ups
Power-ups add to your MPS and provide various advantages during races. They’re available:
- In the Upland Store every Thursday
- On the secondary market from other players
Plan your power-up loadout AFTER seeing the weekly track. Different tracks reward different power-up combinations.
Qualifying Strategy
The qualifying window runs Thursday 9 AM PT through Monday 9 AM PT. You can race as many times as you want — only your fastest time counts.
Tips:
- Race early to learn the track. Your first few runs are for learning the layout, not setting times.
- Race late for your best time. By Sunday, you’ve internalized the track. Your fastest laps come after practice.
- Watch other racers. The live streams and Discord discussions reveal optimal lines and strategies.
- Top 24 qualify. Don’t need to be #1 in qualifying — just need to be in the top 24. Consistency matters more than one miracle lap.

Track Creator Program
Design a track and submit it through the Upland Racing Discord. If selected for Championship competition:
- 25,000 UPX reward when your track is featured
- Ongoing UPX from players racing on your track
This is one of the few ways to earn UPX through creative contribution rather than spending.
Championship Racing is consistently one of Upland’s best features because it rewards skill over spending. The 30,000 UPX registration fee is your only cost. After that, it’s about driving ability, track knowledge, and strategic MPS choices. More features should work like this.
