Original Article: Memorial Day 24-Hour Flash Sale: Zero Convenience Fees on Sparklet + 25% Off Select Structures — Upland Official Medium
Quick Take
A 24-hour Memorial Day flash sale running Monday 9 AM PT → Tuesday 9 AM PT. Two components: (1) all convenience fees on Sparklet purchases in the Upland Store waived — direct in-app store revenue push; (2) 25% off five existing structures (Regional Hospital, Pure Pose Yoga, Regal Roots Salon, Office Complex, Office Tower) that have "been available in the store for a while."

Real Talk
Sparklet convenience fees waived for 24 hours is Upland's clearest signal yet about where they want Sparklet demand to flow. The cheapest path to Sparklet for most players is normally Uniswap or Aerodrome (the DEX markets Upland's own guides recommend). For a one-day window, Upland is undercutting their own fee structure to bring purchasers back into the in-app store — direct USD revenue to Upland rather than DEX liquidity to other players.
The "25% off five older structures" piece is straightforward clearance — these structures have been in the store "for a while" and the discount moves stale inventory. Office Complex and Office Tower being included is worth a note: Office structures are part of the Trade Routes pending feature set. Discounting them now is consistent with Upland wanting more office buildings on the map before Trade Routes ships.
For real-portfolio context on why Sparklet purchase incentives matter: serious builders go through millions of UPX in Sparklet costs over the lifetime of a portfolio, much of it as rental fees to other players. Every flash sale like this one is Upland reclaiming a slice of that demand for its own store rather than the DEX markets. See the DTLA Portfolio Tracker for what one player's Sparklet exposure actually looks like in numbers.
