Original Article: Genesis Week Style: A New Look for Upland, and Something to Wear. — Upland Official Medium
Quick Take
Genesis Week's softest announcement: real-world merch returns via the new Uppies Style store, and upland.me got a ground-up rebuild. The merch is normal community gear — the website is the real story, pairing genuinely useful data tools (daily Census, Uppies Market on web) with a new-player funnel that sells six "core playstyles," not all of which exist yet.
What's Being Sold
One real-world product. Nothing in this announcement is in-game monetization — real-world apparel is normal community gear, and most game studios sell it.
| Item | Price | Where | Available | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Limited Genesis Week shirt | USD (store pricing) | style.uppies.me (Uppies Style, the official store) | Order by Sunday, June 14, 2026 for the Genesis Week window; stays in store "a short time" after | Code FULLSTEAM = 10% off. Front: this year's Genesis Week design. Back: every city opened since 2019. |
| Uppies Style ongoing drops | Varies | style.uppies.me | "New drops planned on a regular basis" | Character-driven pieces from the Uppies cast. Newsletter will carry "occasional early offers." |
What's Promised vs. What's Delivered
| Promise | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Uppies Style store + Genesis Week shirt | ✅ Delivered | Live at style.uppies.me. Order-by date and discount code published up front — clean execution. |
| Rebuilt website with Census & Uppies Market tools | ✅ Delivered | Daily-updated Resident Scores for every neighborhood, one click away. Market browsing, merge progression, and IPU tracking on web. |
| "Farm & Tend" core playstyle | ❌ Not live | Farming has no launch date. $78,390 of farm machinery was sold May 29 for a system that still depends on Troves. |
| "Architect's Loop" (create Troves → run Recipes → earn rewards) | ⏳ Alpha only | Presented as the game's core loop. Troves just finished a 4-day alpha (June 8–12) whose items were wiped; full release still "later in 2026." |
| Regular merch drops | ⏳ Future | "Planned on a regular basis" — no schedule published. |
Real Talk
Credit where it's due: the Census now puts daily-updated Resident Scores for every neighborhood one click away, and the Uppies Market — listings, merge progression, IPU tracking — is on the open web. That's real data access players have been getting from third-party tools, now official and usable between sessions. This is the kind of transparency we keep asking for; more of it, please.
The new front door sells six "core playstyles" to new players — and "Farm & Tend" isn't one you can play, since Farming has no launch date even after $78,390 of machinery was sold May 29. The "Architect's Loop" — create Troves, run Recipes, earn rewards — is canonized as the core loop days after Troves finished a 4-day alpha whose items were wiped, with the full release still "later in 2026." A new player who follows this funnel today is reading a present-tense description of a game that's partly still on the roadmap.
Worth noting: "you are the Architect" is now the canonical player identity, with Uppies framed as the residents. That's new language, not a new mechanic — but Upland has rebranded its core framing before (metaverse to city-builder, documented in our audit), so we'll watch where this one goes.
